Every now and then when I’m writing, the words want to rhyme. I have learned not to resist that energy, to allow whatever is about to come out, to flow wherever it wants to go. Whether it’s serious poetry or silly, words that decide to become poems have a different life than those who remain prose. Poetry is profound. The meaning expressed by words in a poem is larger, occupying more territory than mere description or phrasing. The best explanation is that poetry condenses thought into the smallest possible expression of itself while maintaining the largest imaginable impact.

Words used sparingly,
Daringly,
Daring me,
Without sparing you.
