As a poem strikes me, sometimes it tells a story. Story poems are usually long rhythmic tales, whereas “poetry” is shorter. I’ve also noticed that my poetry tends to be more serious, whereas the story poems are almost always humorous. I’m not sure why that happens. It just does.

For years I have tried to make sense of this world, but with little success. It is obvious to me that whoever is in charge certainly has a phenomenal sense of the ridiculous. Therefore, it would be presumptuous of me to allow my serious side to be in control. Perhaps my story poems, being longer and somewhat rambling, are simply following my life’s example.
