I always dreamed of becoming an artist.
I don’t know exactly when it started, the idea was just
there in my consciousness as far back as I can remember. Then
my very practical father explained to me, “Artists don’t
make any money unless they go into commercial art. There, you’ll
sell yourself and your talent to a company. They own your work
and they own you.” How frightening!
My father was right. However, I discovered that there are ways
you can become an artist for yourself. It’s not difficult.
It’s a life-style.
- Get a job.
- Forget about money. Your day-job will
support you. Try to make it something you enjoy.
- Do your art. Seek constructive criticism,
and create from your heart.
- Take classes. Learn from other artists,
then build on their knowledge with your creativity and your imagination.
- Advertise. Art shows, galleries, art
magazines, a website. (ART-TALES is one way I am sharing my art
with you.)
